This post is long overdue but finally putting together a quick one to update you all about my recent trip to Cancun, Mexico! Originally, I was meant to travel alone for a “self-exploration” trip but even at my age and size, Popsie does not believe I should travel alone, unless it’s a company or school-sponsored trip.

So, it turned into a birthday trip mainly for my brother’s 21st birthday then we convinced our sister to tag along because YOLO. Unfortunately, we found out my brother’s passport had expired a day before so he had to sit this trip out. Lesson to all: Check your travel documents occasionally to make sure nothing is going to expire soon! You definitely do not want to spend so much money and find out last minute that you actually cannot go – you will be bummed out for dayssss. HOWEVER, as with everything that I have experienced, everything really does happen for a reason so we all found comfort in that.

Anyway, my sister and I went to Cancun and stayed in an oceanfront AirBnB. If you know me personally or keep up with me via social media, then you know that I am a sucker for ocean-view properties. I honestly really do not need much when I go on vacation – just put me in a hotel or AirBnB with an ocean-view and I will be a happy camper! This is probably because I LOVE sunsets and sunrises and what better way to watch both than on an oceanfront?

Since this was my sister’s first Caribbean trip, we decided to spend a majority of our time doing the typical adventure-touristy things so we went Ziplining, riding ATVs/Dune Buggies, visiting one of the Seven Wonders of the World (Chichen Itza), participating in cultural tours, and of course, going to Coco Bongo.

My first experience at a Coco Bongo was when I went to Punta Cana, DR with Naa and I was amazed! The performances were amazing and I felt they were all so good at their jobs! Once I found out that there was a Coco Bongo in Cancun, I told my sister she had to experience it and she loved it as well. Funny enough, Ruth’s friend was also in town that same week so we all went to Coco Bongo together!

Also, SB: If you ever end up in Cancun, please DO NOT use a company called My Cancun Experience for ANY tours. We had a terrible experience with the company and till date, I am still vexed. Long story short, they stole our money. If you would like the full tea, leave me a comment or email me but for your sake, please just stay away from them! There are so many other tour companies out there and I promise you, you will be better off using another company.

Overall, I had a great trip with my sister! We really got to spend some quality time together and the positives of the trip definitely outweighed our experience with My Cancun Experience. As always, please see below for a few pictures from the trip.

Stay adventurous, dear friends, and always remember to stay golden. All ways, always.

Sincerely,

Samuella
